Former SGA President Zakir Zurga’s 5 Tips To Start the School Year Right

Stick to your Deen

During the time my classmates and I went to school, there were times when things got really difficult. But we found answers to all our obstacles in our du’aas! Never underestimate the power of du’aa and always focus on strengthening your relationship with Allah. At the end of the day, it is going to be for your benefit.

Manage your Time

As time passes by, the courses are only going to get harder. It is crucial to manage your time. Try to set a schedule that works for you. Give yourself a specific amount of time to work, and a specific amount of time to rest. That way, you hit the right balance.

Value the Islamic Environment here

Here at Al-Huda, the Islamic environment is very close-knit, and that is very rare to find elsewhere. You might not realize this now, but as you grow you realize how important it is to have such a beautiful community around you. Everyone around here is to help you and become a better person. What’s a better community than the one that wants the best for you?

Take Advantage of the Close-Knit Community

Building relationships over here is not only going to help you while you are here, but it would benefit you even when you graduate. You can ask your classmates and your teachers for assistance. Everyone here is ready to help you in any way they can. Remember, you get what you want only when you ask for it. You don’t have to feel alone in this journey when you have got people rooting for you!

Be Involved in Extracurricular Activities

Whether it be helping out with the food drives on the weekends or joining the school sports team, it is all going to be worth it. This is not only going to help you build great relationships, but would also make your journey here more enjoyable. I’d say, definitely take advantage of all the fun stuff happening around you in this community, and go out there to make great things happen!
