Spring 2020 Math League Winners are Out!

They do algebra, they do statistics, they even do trig...but graphing is where they draw the line. Al-Huda School extends a warm Mubarrak (congratulations) to the brilliant Math League competition winners for grades 5th through 8th. They were awarded Tuesday, March 3, 2020 after Duhr prayer.

Originally invented in 1977 by two high school math teachers, the Math League is a math competition that usually consists of 35 multiple-choice questions to be solved in 30 minutes covering advanced arithmetic as well as topics in geometry and algebra.

Out of 120 participants, approximately 30 finalists per grade, AHS recognized 36 winners including first place, second place, third place and honorable mentions. First place winners won gift cards and trophies were given to all 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. AHS prides itself on their intelligent students. May Allah protect them all and continue to increase them in knowledge.

Every year on the last Tuesday in the month of February, the Maryland Math League has provided challenging math contests for students in 4th-8th grade. Students attempt to solve around 35 perplexing math questions and thirty students in each grade are chosen in the preliminary round. The top five scores in each grade are sent to the state after the final round and the accumulated scores are used to rank each school. Students who score exceptionally high (30+) get a chance to attend the Math Tournament held once a year.

Alhamdulilah, all praises and thanks belong to Allah, Al Huda School has been participating in the Math League for nearly two decades and has ranked among the top 20 schools in the state of Maryland.
